The group’s wider membership includes parliamentarians with an interest in financial inclusion, affordable credit, small business finance and local economic growth.

Responsible Finance, the UK membership body for CDFIs, provides the APPG’s secretariat. It supports the group with research, briefings, events, constituency information and engagement with the community finance sector.

Get involved

Parliamentarians can support the work of the CDFIs APPG by:

  • Championing CDFIs in debates on financial inclusion, SME finance and local growth

  • Supporting policies that improve access to affordable credit

  • Encouraging stronger referral partnerships between banks and community lenders

  • Visiting a CDFI operating in their constituency or region

  • Using local lending data and customer stories to raise awareness of community finance

  • Attending APPG meetings, roundtables and parliamentary events
